Petrol and Diesel Prices Today; New Delhi, January 24, 2025—Good news for Indian consumers! Fuel prices have reduced in several states due to a fall in global crude oil prices. State-run oil companies released the latest petrol and diesel retail prices on Friday, reflecting the international market’s impact.
Crude oil prices below $80
The price of Brent crude oil has fallen below $80 a barrel, impacting domestic fuel prices. This has led to a substantial reduction in petrol and diesel prices in several states across India.

Price changes across cities
While fuel prices remained unchanged in the four major metros of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, other cities witnessed significant fluctuations:
- Gurugram (Haryana): Petrol is now selling at Rs 94.99 per litre, 18 paise cheaper than before, and diesel is also 18 paise cheaper, at Rs 87.84 per litre.
- Patna (Bihar): Residents of Patna are enjoying a 35 paise drop in petrol price, where petrol has come down by 35 paise to Rs 105.23 per litre and diesel has come down by 33 paise to Rs 102.09 per litre.
- Jaipur (Rajasthan): In contrast, prices have seen a rise in Jaipur, where petrol has gone up by 19 paise to Rs 104.91 per litre and diesel has gone up by 17 paise to Rs 90.21 per litre.
Crude Oil Market Updates
The global crude oil market has declined in the last 24 hours, with Brent crude oil falling to $78.29 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil falling to $74.27 per barrel.

How fuel prices are determined
It is important to note that fuel prices are revised daily at 6 am. The final price we see at the pump is much higher than the base price due to excise duty, dealer commission, VAT and other charges. These additional costs can be almost double the original price of petrol and diesel.
